Family Office Accountant
Our client is a family office owned by and operated for the shareholders of an iconic, privately held company. The clients of the family office comprise members of a local, multi-generational family, and the family office is based in San Francisco.  The Company provides its family members with a wide range of services from accounting to other personal services as may be requested.
Location: San Francisco CA
This is a hybrid position where the employees are currently required to come into the office on a set day each month.  This is subject to change at anytime and may increase to weekly at some point.

AMAZING work/life balance (7:30am – 4:45pm Mon – Thurs and half days on Friday) and the hours are flexible depending on individual needs.

Job Description
Provide bookkeeping, financial analysis, and special project support to a 11-employee family accounting office. 
Responsibilities include: propose and post adjusting journal entries and prepare supporting work papers, prepare bank reconciliations, arrange wires for cash receipts and disbursements, prepare financial statements and supporting work papers, prepare investment summaries, analyze basic investment performance, compile tax data and prepare basic tax work papers, provide and respond to other ad hoc queries and requests from clients and team members.  This position also requires preparation of audit work papers for an audit of a Private Foundation.
The Accountant reports directly to the Accounting Manager and Controller.

Job Requirements: 
  • Minimum four-year degree, accounting major or similar experience required, and a minimum of five years of prior work experience in accounting.
  • Non-profit work preferred but not required
  • Must be computer proficient with strong experience using Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience working with Great Plains is favored. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and client service skills are required.
  • Demonstrated financial analytical skills are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently problem solve.
  • All prospective employees must pass a background check and sign employment and confidentiality agreements
Vacation, Sick and Time Off
Monthly accrual of 10 hours, or 120 hours annually, of vacation/sick/time off in years one through two of employment. 
Monthly accrual of 13.33 hours, or 160 hours annually, in years three through four of employment. 
Monthly accrual of 16.67 hours, or 200 hours annually, in year five and thereafter.

Observed holidays include New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the day after, Christmas Day and two floating holidays.

Medical and Dental
100% reimbursement of medical and dental insurance premiums for employee.
Employee is not reimbursed for vision insurance premiums.
Employee’s family members are not reimbursed for their insurance premiums.

Defined Benefit Pension Plan
An employee becomes fully vested upon completion of five years of service.  An employee receives benefits based on years of service and the employee’s compensation.  Employees do not contribute to the plan.

The employer maintains and administers a 401(k) for the benefit of the employee.  The plan is self-directed by the employee.
The employer does not contribute to the employee’s plan.

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: $90,000-$115,000. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
