JOB DESCRIPTION: The company is seeking a motivated and results-oriented candidate to join their Finance team as a Sr. Accountant based in San Francisco, CA. This position will fill a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the financial close process. You will perform assigned month-end closing activities and analyses. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated problem solver with strong teamwork skills and a desire to drive change. This position will be part of an integrated team that believes that collaboration, flexibility, resourcefulness, and attention to detail are the keys to success. The Senior Accountant role provides an opportunity to develop a meaningful skillset and to continuously take on increasingly complex challenges in a growth environment. The role is hybrid with the expectation of 1-2 days on-site per week.
What you’ll do:
· Be responsible for accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close procedures for certain key balance sheet and income statement accounts. This may include communication with management/operations, performing financial analysis, as well as preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and allocations
· Support the Finance team in enhancing the Company’s existing accounting procedures and internal control processes to improve accounting operational efficiency and effectiveness
· Prepare audit schedules for quarterly reviews and the annual audit as necessary
· Support for ad-hoc projects as required
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
· Big four experience preferred
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
· CPA Designation completed or in process
· Fluency in Microsoft Excel
· Knowledge of 2013 COSO framework and experience applying the framework in a manner that supports SOX compliance and operational efficiencies
· Self-motivated, deadline driven and results oriented; a problem solver with a can-do attitude with strong teamwork skills and strong desire to drive change
· Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and presentation skills that allow effective interactions and communications across functional areas
· Experience with Oracle or other large ERP system a plus
· Experience in life science industry or diagnostic segment a plus
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: $85,000-$135,000. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
