Our client incubates and invests in early-stage (Founding/Pre-Seed and Seed) technology companies. Their first incubation is the leading trust layer for web3 gaming and their second Incubation is a decentralized e-commerce protocol.

JOB DESCRIPTION:  
As a Director of Finance, your role will encompass general fund management and maintaining the company's performance metrics by tracking valuations. You will oversee and coordinate the budgeting, tax, and accounting functions, ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and management reports. Coordinating with external auditors, tax advisors, and other
professional service providers, you will develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

You will be responsible for investment analysis, research, investor relations, and fund management. In the investment analysis process, you will create financial models and projections, evaluate company strategy and positioning, analyze valuation and deal structuring, while performing industry analysis to identify and evaluate new investment
opportunities. You will also meet with founders and screen potential portfolio companies along with general outreach.

Part of your role will be conducting research on various industries, with a particular focus on emerging sectors such as web3, climate tech, artificial intelligence, and gaming. This research will help to inform the investment team's strategy and decision-making process when evaluating potential investments and will be shared with investors.

In addition to your involvement in the investment process, you will manage investor relations and communications. This includes preparing quarterly and annual investor reports, responding to investor inquiries, and keeping our investors informed about the fund's performance and strategy.


Responsibilities may include (but not limited to):
  • Provide comprehensive reporting and analysis to understand the performance of each fund in real-time
  • Manage diligence processes, support valuation efforts, and prepare investment documents to support all phases of the investment process
  • Survey founders and gather company performance data for quarterly portfolio review
  • Track and report portfolio and fund data; collect information for each new and follow-on deal when it closes, as well as each exited company
  • Produce portfolio performance metrics quarterly - TVPI, IRR, DPI, and several other metrics
  • Help with portfolio construction and align each investment deal with internal guidelines
  • Maintain detailed budget and performance analysis for the firm’s management company
  • Oversee the firm’s compliance operations, working closely with the firm’s internal counsel
Skills and Experience:
  •  Bachelor's degree with a strong academic record
  • Experience in finance, preferably in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial statement analysis
  • Familiarity with computing and analysis investment returns, particularly TVPI, IRR, and DPI
  • Familiarity with different valuation methodologies and comfortable building valuation models
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise research reports and effectively communicate with investors
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  •  Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  •  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace, particularly Excel and Google Sheets, and experience with accounting and financial software
