LOCATION: Danville, CA – this role can be fully remote. They would ideally like someone in the Bay Area who can occasionally be in the office.

JOB DESCRIPTION:  
The company is seeking a Tax Senior for our Danville, CA office. This well?established private equity firm, with over
$4 billion in assets under management, invests in global venture capital and private equity funds and in addition has a
well?established and growing direct investment program. The desired candidate should have strong analytical, verbal,
and written communication skills. They should also be highly organized and able to prioritize and multi?task, while
giving attention to every detail. To be successful at the company, it is necessary to be a self?starter and possess an
independent work ethic. In addition, the candidate should be flexible and a team player. This position reports to the
Tax Controller.
Primary responsibilities include:
  • Managing Tax Return Compliance for all Northgate Fund of Funds / Direct Funds / Mexico Funds / GP entities
/ Management Company (over 100 entities) including:
    • Providing PBCs to and communicating with Big 4 tax preparers
    • Initial high?level review of tax workpapers, returns, and Schedules K?1 / K?3 prepared by Big 4 tax team
    • Tax compliance for foreign LPs (Forms 1042/1042?S and 8804/8805)
    • Estimating and processing investor tax withhold payments and fund tax extension payments
    • Form 1099 compliance
  • Prepare General and Limited Partner tax estimates and tax distributions
  • Process final tax documents for filing, distribution and document retention
  • Foreign tax compliance tracking, maintenance and filing (i.e. FATCA, CRS, PFIC, etc)
  • Maintenance of General and Limited Partner tax documents (W?8, W?9, FATCA/CRS Self?Certification)
  • Gather and prepare information requests annually for German tax preparers
  • Interact (phone and email) with investors regarding their individual tax information requests
  • Analyze and prepare all annual FBAR filings
  • Publish tax documents to Intralinks to make available to investors as needed
  • Other miscellaneous tax related items that are necessary to stay compliant (i.e. Annual Delaware Tax
  • payments, CA SOI payments, SF Gross Receipt estimated payments and annual filing, Tax notices, etc.)
  • Assist with the development of new processes to manage workload and flow as necessary
Qualifications required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • 3 to 5 years of tax and accounting experience in the asset management industry
  • Big 4 experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word required
  • Experience with Investran and Intralinks is desired
  • Strong analytical skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to operate independently and proactively in order to manage multiple tasks across the Funds’ platform
