COMPANY DESCRIPTION: Our client is a clinical-stage precision oncology company focused on developing novel targeted therapies to inhibit high-value frontier targets in RAS-addicted cancers. The company’s R&D pipeline comprises RAS(ON) Inhibitors designed to suppress diverse oncogenic variants of RAS proteins, and RAS Companion Inhibitors for use in combination treatment strategies. As a new member of the team, you will join other outstanding scientists in a tireless commitment to patients with cancers harboring mutations in the RAS signaling pathway.
LOCATION: Redwood City (Hybrid). Wednesday (required) plus one other day, for a total of two days per week.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Accounting, the Payroll Manager will be responsible for accurately and timely processing payroll through ADP. The candidate will be the primary payroll contact and handle all payroll related matters. Ideally the candidate will also help with ad hoc projects as needed. The ideal candidate will have experience in:
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: $120,000-$150,000. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.

- Complete end to end ownership of processing complex semi-monthly payroll using ADP Workforce Now.
- Processing equity, multi-state payroll and LOAs.
- Ensure new state payroll tax registrations and garnishment are complete in collaboration with ADP.
- Preparation of payroll in a public company environment with controls.
- Collaborate and partner with HR on payroll related matters.
- Analyze payroll and benefits related accounts for unusual trends to ensure accurate reporting.
- Prepares compensation and benefit information to support the proxy and tax provision.
- Reviews and reconciles quarterly and annual, federal, and state, payroll tax returns, and form W-2s.
- Participation in process improvements, financial system enhancements and special projects as needed.
- Prepares information required to complete the 401(k) audit and the workers compensation insurance audit.
- Assistance with keeping employee accounts accurate and updated between various systems such as Etrade, Coupa and Smartsheet.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business with five to ten years of relevant experience in payroll, public company and pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now required.
- Working knowledge and research capability of applicable local, state and federal law pertinent to benefits administration.
- Ability to work independently, protect and safeguard confidential information, great attention to detail and to meet deadlines.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to anticipate events, prioritize assignments, deal with interruptions, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and growth-oriented environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to work with interdepartmental teams.
- Innovative, team-player with high energy for dynamic company environment.
