Senior Accountant

Our client, a leader in the natural health and wellness industry is looking for a highly skilled Senior Accountant with strong time management and organizational skills to support their team by providing accurate and timely financial data in managing daily transactions. 

This role will be onsite, 5-days a week, at their office located in Los Angeles, CA. This role will have a duration of 3 months with potential of conversion.

Essential Duties:
Responsibilities include tasks associated with the following categories (but not limited to):
  • Day-to-Day Transactions: Record sales, purchases, inventory, cost of sales, payables, fixed assets, and intercompany activity to produce accurate financial data as needed. Perform month-end closing procedures, bank, and merchant account reconciliations, reconcile intercompany accounts. Maintain all accounting related databases to ensure accuracy and timely availability of information to support the Director of Finance in all financial matters of the organization.
  • Account Analysis: Provide analysis of changes in revenue, expenses, departmental spending, and balance sheet accounts and to alert the Director of Finance of any changes that may impact the Company’s financial position and/or monthly revenue. Analyze account balances for fluctuations, proper posting in the correct period and to the correct account.
  • Calendar of Due Dates: Manage a calendar of due dates for tax filings, estimated payments, business licenses and other filings, including regulatory agencies so as not to miss renewals, payments, and filings as required by the various agencies and to prepare for cash requirements associated with the various filings.
  • Process Improvements: Provide suggestions and recommendations for process improvement, implementation of procedures and controls to protect the assets of the Company.
  • Ad Hoc Tasks and Accounting Projects:  Flexibility to provide the CEO, Director of Finance, and other individuals with assistance and support on special projects and research as needed.

Core Requirements:
  • 3 to 5 years of accounting experience  
  • Expert QuickBooks skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including ability to design and maintain complex spreadsheets with formulas, pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
  • Intermediate knowledge of GAAP accounting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional demeanor and cooperative attitude to interact with various levels of management with varying personalities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Meticulous organizational skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Multi-task with the ability to maintain composure and to work quickly and efficiently in time-sensitive conditions.
  • Punctual with the availability to provide after-hours support as needed.
  • Confident, resourceful, and capable of making decisions.
  • Must always maintain financial confidentiality.
  • Ability to follow instructions and to be coached to success.

Educational Requirements:
  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or Business.
  • CPA preferred, but not required.

Compensation:
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: $55-$75 per hour. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
